New Harley-Davidson dealership moves up a gear

Business is booming at the local branch of Harley-Davidson to such an extent that the new owners are upping sticks and relocating to a brand new £2m showroom within one of Newcastle's most prestigious retail and business parks.

Newcastle's Harley-Davidson dealership has announced plans to move to new purpose-built premises in May this year and, alongside the organisation's ongoing expansion plans, the management team is planning a recruitment drive in response to increased demand for the company's products and services.

Since the former Just Harleys site on Dinsdale Place in Sandyford was taken over last summer by Paul O'Callaghan and David Hall, the dealership has gone from strength to strength, enabling a move from its current location to the new premises, just seven miles away, at The Silverlink.

The new dealership will not only provide more of a presence for Newcastle Harley-Davidson but the state of the art premises will mean that they can deliver even more products and services. New facilities include: a brand new showroom, a retail store dedicated to clothing and apparel, individual and private meeting rooms and office space, a high-tech area for motorcycle servicing and possibly a café.

The move and search for new employees means that not only is demand for services at an all time high, but the team will be able to give back to the local community who, they recognise, have put so much into Harley over the years..

Dave Hall, director of Newcastle Harley-Davidson said: "We're incredibly proud of our progress over the last few months and we are all really looking forward to the move. The current premises have served Harley well over the years but our new showroom is more befitting of this international brand. We're going to display plans of the new premises for people to come and have a look at. This, linked to our recruitment drive later this month, makes it a very interesting and exciting time for everyone associated with our company, including current and future customers.

"We're thrilled that we're able to give back to a community that's given us so much by providing several new jobs, especially as some areas of Newcastle have seen unemployment rise considerably since 2008."

Paul O'Callaghan, director of Newcastle Harley-Davidson said: "Everyone at the dealership is looking forward to the move and the new services we will be able to offer our customers. However, before we can get the new premises up and running we're going to need a few more staff.

"Hopefully we'll have a strong turn out at our proposed recruitment sessions later this month. Initially we're asking people who have experience of sales, servicing, parts, admin and clothing to drop in to meet us at our Sandyford showroom on March 23 between 5pm and 8pm. We hope to find ourselves inundated with applications from highly experienced people who can demonstrate a commitment to excellent customer service.

"We've organised the informal drop in session so that people can meet the team, have a chat and let us know what skills they have. It's a perfect opportunity for interested people to sell their skills in a relaxed and comfortable environment as well as having the opportunity to see some of the world's most amazing motorcycles."
